What are cloud hours?
DAAAM analyses your footage on your Mac by default — no upload, no cloud account. Cloud hours exist for two reasons:
- Not every machine can run local AI. The on-device model needs 16 GB RAM and Apple Silicon. If your Mac doesn't qualify — or you're on a borrowed machine — cloud analysis gives you the same quality without the hardware requirement.
- It's faster — even when you have the hardware. Local AI competes with everything else on your machine. It slows when you're editing, throttles on a warm laptop, and drags under sustained load. Cloud runs on dedicated hardware at a consistent pace, without touching your resources — the same speed whether your Mac is idle or mid-render.
- Keep your machine free. Queue up a big archive overnight. Come back to a fully tagged library — without your laptop sitting hot and loud on your desk while it processes.
